1. Start with a good eye shadow base or prime. Pat a thin layer of it on your lids. I use a concealer with pressed powder patted on top with a fluffy brush.
2. Apply a long wear eye shadow, about 3 shades darker than your skin tone. Do this to your mobile mid and higher up the crease until you reach the slightly under the brow bone. This will help you bring out the darkness of the look and increase the wear time of the shadows.
3. Take a black pencil liner and apply it right from the outer half of your lash line to above your crease, which is just underneath the socket bone in a v shape. You can use any other dark coloured liner or shadow for a different coloured Smokey eye. Make sure you blend it out well.
4. Pat on a black shadow on the shape you created and blend it slightly up and out. Start blending from the point where your lower lash line ends. Do this up to the end of your brows. Now, in windshield wiper motions, blend the black shadow inwardly, a little bit higher than your normal crease.
5. Apply your lighter silver shade or any shade of your choice. It can be matte or shimmery. Apply it to the inner 2/3rd of the lid and inner 1/3rd of the lower lid. Highlight your brow bone with a shade of your choice and blend out the black as well. Add the slightest amount of the black to the outer 2/3rd of the lower lash line but not too close to the water line.
6. Define your brows. I chose to mix a dark brown and black eye shadow to match my brow color and apply it with an angled brush. Apply clear mascara or brow gel to keep your brows in place all day long. Apply eyeliner as a curve on the upper lash line along the inner corner and gradually thickening outwards and eventually thinning again to a curve wing. Optional step: Apply white or peachy nude eyeliner along your lower waterline to make your eyes more awake and bigger. Apply lots of mascara. Don’t skimp on mascara, especially not on the lower lashes so as to balance the look.
7. Finish off with contouring; you can go with a matte bronzer (optional), a dusty rose blush and the best friend of Smokey eye – a nude lipstick to keep the focus on the eyes for a polished look!
