Glam Gold and Black Eye Make Up

The Festivals are upon us and all we have time for is accessorizing our outfits and colour coordinating our makeup. Oh we have so many outfits that we keep changing throughout the day.  But during this entire hustle bustle, we sometimes are barely left with time for changing our makeup with our outfit. Oh the horror of having a green eye shadow with a pink dress.

Stop panicking and think. What if there was a common look for all our attires during the day and the night? What if with a few touch ups, we could be all set for the whole day as well as the entire night?

And thus inspiration struck. A common colour for accommodating all the changes through the day. A Gold and Black look that goes with anything and everything.

Join me as I take you on a step by step journey of creating the perfect glam look with a Gold and Black Smokey Eye makeup.

Step 1: Prime your eyes

Priming is probably the most important step in any makeup. And it is also probably the one that we skip the most. Wikipedia defines a primer as a cream or lotion applied before another cosmetic to improve coverage and lengthen the amount of time the cosmetic lasts on the face. In short a primer helps to create a smooth even canvas which brings out the colours of your makeup as well as helps it stay on longer.

Apply a primer to even out your skin tone, absorb any oiliness and create a smooth base.

Step 2: Gold

Apply a bright gold colour to the inner half of your eyelid following the natural shape of your eyes. Your eyelid is only until the point where the eye bulges. Do not apply any colour on the brow bone.

Pat on the gold colour onto the lid in place. Do not drag the brush on your lids. The blending will come later. Right now you will be just depositing the colour on your lids.

Step 3: Black

Apply a shimmery black colour on the outer half of your eyelid until the edge of the previously applied gold colour. Again do not drag the brush, just gently pat the colour onto your eyelid.

Again make sure you follow the natural shape of your eyelid.

Step 4: Blend the Black

Take a fluffy brush and blend the black that you have applied on the outer half of your eyelid into the gold such that you are no longer left with a clear edge of colour.

The colours should seamlessly blend into one another. The gold should end into the black and the black should begin from the gold.

Step 5: Dark Black in Crease

Apply a dark black colour into the crease and the upper lash line forming a ‘V’ shape.

Make sure this is a matte black colour or a colour that is darker than the previous black colour that you have applied and blended. Follow your natural crease lines which is the area where your eye ends and your brow bone begins.

Step 6: Blend the Crease

Blend the black that you had applied in the crease seamlessly into the crease and the black on the lid, creating the impression of a darker outer eyelid.

Step 7: Apply basic eyeliner

Apply the eyeliner in a basic outline of whichever shape you want. Since this is an out and out glamorous look, I have created the basic shape of a winged liner.

 Step 8: Thicken the liner

Once you are happy with the shape of your eyeliner, you can thicken the eyeliner until you are happy with the look.

Step 9: Apply Kohl on the waterline

Apply an intense black liner, kohl, or a kajal to your waterline to give a dramatic outline to your eyes.

Step 10: Apply Mascara

Since we are going glam in this look, I would suggest lots of mascara to oomph up those lashes. You can also add false eyelashes to further up the glam quotient.
