In need of some TLC (Tender Loving Care)? Look no further. It’s time for some indulgent pampering (show me a girl who would say no to that!) with Cashmere Glow from Bath and Body Works (BBW). I’ve learnt it the hard way (read: spending lots of dollars) that BBW usually does very fruity, super sweet scents that do not work in our weather (especially right now!). But Cashmere Glow surprised me, and how !
Let’s start from the beginning. Not one to pass up a chance to order stuff from the US when relatives visit, the Cashmere Glow Gift Set found its way to my list given its description on the BBW site.

Damn right, BBW, you had me at the closing line: “because every girl deserves cashmere”. Now, what are the images that the word Cashmere brings to your mind? If its soft wool sweaters, cozy fire place, fingers wrapped around hot cocoa, cuddly teddy bears and tender comforters…bang on! This scent is all that, and more.
They have several versions of gift sets available to suit your tastes and pocket and given my love for all things bling, I chose this 4-piece super bling-y set containing the following:
- Cashmere Glow Shower gel (travel size, 3 ounces/88 ml)
- Cashmere Glow Body lotion (travel size, 3 ounces/88 ml)
- Cashmere Glow Fragrance Mist (travel size, 3 ounces/88 ml)
- Marshmallow Crème Lip-licious Lip Gloss (0.47 ounces/14 ml)
Before we get on with the review, a quick word on the concept of layering. Simplistically, layering is applying fragrance items (eg shower gels, lotions, mists, perfumes etc) with the same scent. Experts say that think of shower gel as the foundation and then build on. Hence, when you use products from the same range (or broadly, the same fragrance family) – the fragrance builds/layers on your skin making it last much longer. The critical point is to avoid clashing fragrances, by picking fragrances that belong to the same families. Companies like Bath and Body Works and Victoria Secrets capitalize on this trend by offering complete ranges containing shower gels, lotions and mists with the same fragrance thus taking away the hassle of matching fragrances and allowing you to layer the fragrance you like for a longer lasting impact.
The pouch is bling overload (I love it!) with small shimmer particles all over covered with plastic all making it quite sturdy. The zipper handle is a metallic bow and is uber-cute. Full marks to BBW for paying attention to details on this one. The pouch is handy and sturdy, and hence will make a good travel kit as well.
Both the shower gel and lotion come in standard BBW hour glass bottles made of plastic with flip top caps that is quite convenient for dispensing the right amount of product (especially handy with the lotion).
Cashmere Glow Shower Gel: The shower gel formula is transparent with a light amber/honey color and a not too think texture. The lather is rich and creamy, not very sud-sy. Enriched with shea butter, aloe vera and vitamin E, it is nicely moisturizing and doesn’t leave my skin dry or stretchy. The fragrance notes are described as follows:
- Top Notes: Bergamot, Golden Peach, Pink Guava, Exotic Berries, Gilded Apricot
- Mid Notes: Glowing Muguet Petals, Mimosa, Fluffy Peony, Fresh Jasmine
- Dry Notes: Shimmering Vanilla, Dulce De Leche, Sandalwood, Cashmere Musk
While I did not smell the fragrance much during the shower, post drying the yummy vanilla notes settled very well on my skin and I kept reaching for my arm to smell it again and again. It’s a well rounded, sophisticated , complex fragrance that smells tempting and beautiful.
Cashmere Glow Body Lotion: The lotion is a light peach color, thick and creamy. However, it gets absorbed into the skin super fast (no whitish residue) and leaves it feeling nourished, silky and smooth, not sticky or irritating at all. The formula is infused with skin-softening shea butter, Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E. I reckon it may feel a bit heavy during summers, but for fall and winter, the texture is great.
Cashmere Glow Fragrance Mist: The pump works super well and delivers light, delicate mist sprays for enhancing the fragrance over the shower gel and lotion. Since this is the cleanest form of fragrance (compared to shower gel and lotion), it is also the most potent. Hence, a few sprays at your pulse points are more that sufficient for good coverage.
Marshmallow Crème Lip-licious Lip Gloss: If you enjoy sweets, you will have this clear, shimmery gloss licked up in no time J The formula is thick and feels moisturizing, but not sticky at all. Tastes yummy and delivers a clear shine with super tiny, subtle shimmer on the lips. Looks good as is or could work on a matte lipstick!

What Doesn’t:
- The fragrance can be a bit strong/polarizing for those who do not enjoy gourmand fragrances
- Heavy for summers
- Patchy availability of BBW products in India
