Hi everyone,
No doubt rains bring a relief from the scorching heat but they also bring so much of “chip chip” in my skin. I am seriously tired of blotting my face the entire day because of the humidity. I picked up Boots Skin Clear Oil Free Mattifying Lotion some time back as I knew I would be in dire need of the same once monsoon arrives. Please read on further to find if my pick was a yay or nay.

My Take on Boots Oil Free Mattifying Lotion:
I have heard good things about this brand and had expected a lot from this cream-cum-lotion, but honestly, it did not do anything exceptional for my skin. It is a white coloured liquid with medium consistency. I had expected it to be a runny liquid since it is a lotion but it turned out to be thicker. It exudes a mild floral fragrance which stays for nearly 5 minutes after which it vanishes completely. The best part is that it spreads and gets absorbed within seconds, leaves skin soft.
It does control the oil and shine but only for 2 hours or so after which my face again starts getting oily. The oil secretion though was less. I liked the way the lotion got absorbed but I again was disappointed as it is not possible to keep applying this lotion after every 2 hours. It didn’t do anything for my acne but it didn’t break me out either, true to its claim of being dermatologically tested. There was no visible difference in the pore size also. Though I like it as a moisturizer, but would not really recommend it as a product to combat oil secretion.
Summarizing the pros and cons:
Pros of Boots Oil Free Mattifying Lotion:
- Feels light on the skin.
- Gets absorbed within seconds.
- Mild floral fragrance.
- Did not break me out, dermatologically tested.
- Travel-friendly sturdy packaging.
Cons of Pros of Boots Oil Free Mattifying Lotion:
- Does not keep the face matte for long.
- Parabens in the long list of ingredients.
Will I Repurchase/Do I Recommend Pros of Boots Oil Free Mattifying Lotion?
I may recommend it as a light moisturiser but that too only to girls who have slightly oily skin. On my severe oily, acne-prone skin, this product failed to impress.
Rating:
3/5.
