Today I am going to review a mascara from my latest Clinique haul, actually it was not me, my husband got a lot of stuff for me . That is a different case that I asked for a night cream for oily skin and he got me moisture surge cream, I asked for berry shades in lipsticks and he got me pale pink and peach Anyways, let us move to the product in question which is Clinique Lash Power Lengthening Mascara.

Product Description:

The unique brush applicator, specially designed for Asian eyes, is thin enough to reach every lash and easy to maneuver. The “obelisk” shaped brush has four faceted sides that fully coat each lash for maximum volume that is never heavy or clumpy

Price/ Quantity :

Around 25$ though I don’t have the bill for 5.5 ml.

My take on Clinique Lash Power Lengthening Mascara Black Onyx 01 :

Packaging:

I find Clinique packaging to be very sophisticated, the mascara comes in a slender shiny metal finished bottle with a long and thinner wand. There are two kinds of bristles, the shorter one to deposit the mascara and the longer one to comb through the lashes. I really like the high end products for the simple reason that they take into consideration even the minutest of the details. The ruler marking on the packaging again looks classy and adds to the lengthening image which the company tries to create( or rather what the product is all about). The opening is small and gives just enough space to the wand to pass through.

Consistency/ Colour:

It does not have a runny consistency and is neither too dry, just apt for application. It does not clump nor does it come out as a lot of gunk on the bristles. Coming to the colour, yes as the name suggests it is jet black.

Efficacy:

I would not say that it makes the eyes dramatic but yes it does a decent job of adding volume to the lashes. The best thing about this mascara is the wand with smaller head which makes it so convenient to maneuver, I can easily apply mascara on the lashes at the inner corner also. It stays intact the entire day without any smudging or smearing.The lashes do not feel heavy. It is ophthalmological tested so you can wear it without any apprehensions. It did not give any curling effect but then it does not even claims to do so, so no complaints on that front. There is no clumping whatsoever , normally 2 coats would be required to get thick lashes. It comes off as flakes when removed with an eye make up remover.

Summarising the pros and cons,

Pros of Clinique Lash Power Lengthening Mascara Black Onyx:

1. Does not irritate the eyes.
2. Gives thicker appearance to the lashes.
3. Does not clump
4. Nicely thought of wand, different kinds of bristles and a thinner head for easy movement.
5. Water proof and sweat proof.
6. Stays intact for good 12-14 hours. Had to remove it before going off to sleep , it may have had stayed in place for more time.
7. Comes off easily with an eye make up remover.
8. Is ophthalmologically tested.
9. Classy shiny packaging which is travel friendly though a small mirror at the top could have been incorporated.

Cons of Clinique Lash Power Lengthening Mascara Black Onyx:

1. Long list of ingredients.
2. Does not add length as claimed.

Will I repurchase/ recommend Clinique Lash Power Lengthening Mascara – Black Onyx ?

Yes, it is a decent mascara, though a bit highly priced but you need to be careful while choosing products for something as sensitive as the eyes.
