Hi Friends,
How are you all! Enjoying monsoon’s hot crispy pakodas/samosas with coffee and chai? We are also enjoying surprise monsoon rains here finally. God knows when and how the weather would turn hot and rainy all of a sudden here. I am living here since the last 2 years, but never experienced rain and cold breeze in June, but now we are shivering inside home in the month of June, Holy God! However, the good thing is that we are having hot pakodas and samosa with chai to beat this cold weather. Today’s review is about an anti-dandruff shampoo which is slightly a miss for me but my hubby loves it, don’t know why. Please scroll down further to know more about the New Head and Shoulders Classic Clean Dandruff Shampoo.

My Experience with Head and Shoulders Pyrithione Zinc Dandruff Shampoo:
Well, I am not a Head and Shoulders person, but my hubby is a die-hard fan of Dove and Head and Shoulders, God knows why He keeps on purchasing H&S stuff while I explore Garnier. In his own words, nothing suits his (fine, colored, and full of dandruff) hair better than Head and Shoulders. He is so obsessed with this shampoo that finally he bought a 40 Oz family pack for himself only. Initially, when I used this shampoo, I found it okay, not good as I am also concerned about shine and healthy glow in my hair rather anti-dandruff properties. According to me, this shampoo does clean scalp well and keeps dandruff at bay, but it does not provide a healthy shine to my hair and my hair gets rough after a few hours of washing.
I noticed dandruff on my scalp within 4 days of washing my hair which was scary as I have never experienced heavy dandruff before using Head and Shoulders. I feel it is definitely not for my oily, frizzy hair. However, my hubby has a different opinion about it. He is just concerned about dandruff and color treated hair and he says this shampoo does its job decently, but I haven’t noticed any shine in his hair. I feel he is pleased by the cooling sensation it gives to his scalp. He washes his hair every alternate day with this shampoo, but I can see dandruff flakes on his shoulder if he forgets to wash his hair any day. Initially, this shampoo was pretty good, but it seems after continued usage, it has become ineffective against dandruff. Looking at his hair, I can say that H&S is definitely not the best solution for his hair, but now since he bought a 40 Oz bottle, he has no choice left but to finish it off alone and it might take a year or so. I wouldn’t dare to touch this bottle, I would rather pay the bill of my Garnier shampoo separately.
Let’s sum up the pros and cons:
Pros of Head and Shoulders Pyrithione Zinc Dandruff Shampoo:
- Gentle pH balanced shampoo for everyday use.
- Keeps dandruff at bay from first wash.
- Mild enough for color treated or permed hair.
- Treats itchy, dry scalp.
Cons of Head and Shoulders Pyrithione Zinc Dandruff Shampoo:
- After a month of regular usage, it becomes ineffective against dandruff as per my observation.
- It doesn’t impart any shine to hair, simply cleanses scalp.
- I did not notice any effect on dandruff even after a month of usage.
- Makes hair rough.
Overall, I would say that its just an average shampoo, not the best for me or hubby. Since he is obsessed with H&S, he will try other variants of H&S for sure, if he ever gets a chance to finish off this giant bottle. I hope you know my rating and final verdict for this shampoo.
See you soon gals. Until next time, take care!
