Heyyo!
I, like every other Indian kid, began my foray into the big bad world of lip colors with a Lakme lipstick. But after a while I realised that by just adding a few more bucks you can get a wider colour range and better quality. But nonetheless, the old inexpensive Lakme (before they got Kareena Kapoor as their brand ambassador) will always hold a special place in my heart. *pucchi*
Moving on from being nostalgic, let’s get on with the review. Chop chop!
My mom isn’t a fan of lip colours, she’s the sort who’ll randomly go to any “branded” makeup counter choose a lippie in 10 minutes and promptly continue shopping. This Lakme nine to five lip color is one of her favourites purchased in the aimless wanderings.
Claims:
A high performance, colour fix formula developed in Italy; this creamy lipstick combines amazing comfort with staying power that keeps you looking fresh for hours.
Directions for Use:
1. After lining your lips with a matching lip liner, fill the outlined area of your lips with these rich lip colours.
2. Wait for two minutes for the colour fix action to take effect. Now, your lip colour is set to last for hours.

Price:
550 INR
Packaging:
It’s a nifty cute lipstick that closes with a satisfying click. While it isn’t classy, it’s certainly snazzy. As you can see, it’s been well used but it’s still more or less in the same condition as it was, when purchased.
My take on Lakme Nine To Five Lipstick- Sun Shimmer:
My mother loves to just swipe this lipstick a few times and rush off. It’s orangey toned, certainly brightens up her complexion.
But it does not live up to the nine to five claim, AT ALL! It stays for maybe 2-3 hours, that too only if you don’t eat anything. The colour disappears leaving behind the glitter, which then proceeds to travel all over your face till you look like a shiny disco ball.
Any lipstick that adds using a “matching” lipliner in its directions of use, should be glared at suspiciously. Not only should I shell out 550 for the lipstick but also 350 for a “matching” lipliner? Who are they kidding!
Pros of Lakme Nine To Five Lipstick- Sun Shimmer:
• Gorgeous colour
• Microshimmer that doesn’t feel gritty on the lips.
• Cute packaging
• Color does not feather or bleed.

Cons of Lakme Nine To Five Lipstick- Sun Shimmer:
• Does not live up to the nine to five claim.
• Shade cannot be used during the day, unless you intend to match the Sun.
• Colour fades and leaves behind glitter which looks horrendously garish.
• Formula is extremely dehydrating, leaves lips parched.
• Settles into fine lines.
• Colour may not suit all skin tones.
• No ingredient list.
• At 550 bucks a pop, you can find much better quality elsewhere.

Will I repurchase Lakme Nine To Five Lipstick- Sun Shimmer?
Hell no! I’ll make sure mom avoids this particular range too.
Will I recommend Lakme Nine To Five Lipstick- Sun Shimmer?
Nope! At this price point, there is much better quality available in the market.
