L’Oreal Color Caresse Shine Stain in Lilac Ever After: Swatches & Review
Lip glosses have been a staple of most makeup junkies since the beginning of time. As makeup evolved, they came up with lip stains. Now L’Oreal has tried to mix a lip stain with a lip gloss and came up with these Color Caresse Shine Stains!!
Lip products are not my favourite. In fact, I’d probably put them last on my wish list. Since I like to play up my eyes, I barely use anything other than a lip balm on my lips. I’m not the biggest fan of glossy-ness so lip glosses aren’t my thing either. But L’Oreal’s Color Caresse Shine Stains make me feel differently. The fact that they “stain” your lips makes them so awesome! The following is a review of the same in the colour 185 – Lilac Ever After.
Size: You get 0.21 fluid ounces or 6.21 ml, a decent amount of product. They were launched as a part of L’Oreal’s Spring 2013 collection. DUPE Alert! These are awesome dupes to the super famous Yves Saint Laurent’s (YSL’s) Glossy Stains. They are housed in a beautiful and elegant looking cuboidal golden plastic tube with a band of their respective colour. I absolutely love the packaging. The applicator is awesome too and I like it way more than the standard doe-foot one.
Price: These run at$7.49 to $12, depending on where you buy them from. I think these are slightly expensive, going by drug store standards, but the quality surpasses the price easily. When you think about what this product is a dupe to, the price seems more acceptable.YSL Glossy Stains are 0.20 fluid ounces and go for $32 + tax each, making this product a steal for your money!
My Take on L’Oreal Color Caresse Shine Stain in Lilac Ever After:
I hate the fact that most lip products have to be re-applied several times a day because if you don’t your lips just look weird. I think that is a real buzz kill; Especially at work. There’s so little time and I don’t want to spend 10 minutes trying to get my lips to look nice. But not with this baby! The touch ups are super easy! It lasts 4-5 hours on me without eating. And even when it loses the glossy-ness, it fades away evenly, leaving behind a hint of colour (because it’s a stain), meaning I can skip re-application if I want to
I also love this particular colour – It’s a beautiful soft natural pinky-lilac colour with warm undertones and the slightest of shimmer. I have medium pigmented lips and most glosses are just too light for me. But this colour is perfect. It’s a beautiful nude that actually imparts colour to my lips making them glossy and pinkish in colour. It’s a beautiful “barely there” kind of a colour.
Here are things I LOVE aboutL’Oreal Color Caresse Shine Stain in Lilac Ever After:
- The fact that it is not crazy expensive makes me so happy
- It is smooth and non-sticky
- It did not dry out my lips like most stains do
- You can make the colour more vibrant by applying multiple layers; waiting for 30 seconds in between every layer
- This colour does not feather around my mouth
- It has good staying power
- It does not leave lips looking untidy when it starts wearing off
- It leaves behind a very light pink-stain on the lips for about 3 hours on me
- It is very glossy
- I love how natural and beautiful this colour is
Things I’m not so much in-love with about L’Oreal Color Caresse Shine Stain in Lilac Ever After:
- This shade definitely runs very sheer so it might not suit people with very pigmented lips. Even on my own lips it barely shows up, but I personally like that about it.
- This is not available in India
Verdict: A-
Price: Approx 8$ internationally, Not available in India
Recommendation: The Loreal Color Caresse Wet Shine Stain is a semi sheer lipgloss that is hydrating, smooth , glossy and non sticky. Lilac ever after is a beautiful soft pink that i love, but those with pigmented lips will not enjoy the semi sheer nature if this product. These are actually great dupes for YSL’s Glossy Stains which obviously cost triple the price!
