My Views:
One fine day strolling in the MAC store, wanting to pick up a lipstick, my eyes landed on the MAC Brush Cleanser. A quick read on the box and a look at the price, it came home with me. There are lot of MAC products which are not known to people like me who visits MAC stores once in a while, once such product was MAC Pro Makeup remover which I came to know about after reading Mehak’s review on it and another such product is the MAC Brush Cleanser. It is perfect if you want to spotlessly clean your brushes as well as deep clean them. It not only cleans but also disinfects and keeps the condition of brush fibres intact for longer time. Considering how expensive good quality makeup brushes are, it is wise to invest in a good brush cleanser, rather than depending on Baby Shampoo/mild face washes.
Mac Brush Cleanser comes in a stout looking plastic bottle with a “press to open” cap. The cleanser is of water consistency and the cap provided is not practical to use and you end up wasting lot of product while using. After doing a lot of research online and trying it myself, the best way it can be used for spot cleaning is by mixing Brush Cleanser & Water in 1:1 ratio in a spray bottle. I recommend not diluting the entire product with water and store at a time. Dilute a little bit at a time and store for a few days. Using a spray bottle inside of the nozzle makes it easy to use and does not lead to wastage. Another option is by replacing the cap it comes in with a spray nozzle and using it directly without diluting it water. I have used the liquid directly from the bottle and after diluting it with water, the results were same.
Here, I have demonstrated how easily it cleans my lip brush, which otherwise after soaking and washing, still is loaded with traces of lip color deep inside. I spray the MAC Brush Cleanser once or twice directly on the brush and then swirl it on a tissue paper. For deep cleaning, I run my fingers between the bristles with the tissue and sweeping off the lipstick stuck inside and voila it is clean! It just needs another minute or two to dry out and ready to use. Though MAC Brush Cleanser is perfect for spot cleaning, I still recommend deep cleaning (with MAC Brush Cleanser itself) every fortnight atleast.
Pros:
- Best for spot cleaning the brushes. Helps save time
- Keeps the expensive brushes disinfected and increases their life too
- A single bottle will last easily for more than a year if not diluted with water. If used after diluting, it will last for two years easily. A cost effective way to protect brushes.
Cons:
- The cap it comes with is not convenient to use
- Bottle is not travel friendly, it could easily spill
Rating: A-
Price: Rs. 650
Recommendation: MAC Brush Cleanser is the best one could do for expensive makeup brushes. It is not only perfect for spot cleaning but it is equally good for deep cleaning the brushes. Highly Recommended!
