MUA Power Pout In Broken Hearted: Swatches & Review
Guest Review By (Light Skin Tone NC – 35, Combination Skin)
Lip crayons/chubby sticks seem to be the flavour of the season and every other brand is joining the bandwagon. MUA recently released their version called the Power Pouts and up for dissection today is ‘ Broken Hearted’.
Product Description: Available in six rich bold shades from chic nude ‘Rendez Vous’ to deep rich rasberry ‘Broken Hearted’, our new colour intense lip tints will ensure your lips will look good enough to kiss! MUA Power Pout is a lip treatment with colour intensity that relieves dry, cracked lips providing immediate moisturisation. The handy pencil-style applicator provides easy to apply sheer soft lip colour and rolls up for easy use. Ensure you have the most kissable lips this spring and kisses they will remember forever.
MUA Power pouts come in a chubby and retraceable pencil form. I like the fact that these are retraceable and you don’t have to sharpen(which leads to so much product wastage) them making it convenient and travel friendly. Broken Hearted is a mid toned raspberry pink which will suit light to medium skin tones beautifully. The texture is extremely buttery and hydrating. It glides well on the lips and does not settle into fine lines. It feels like a balm and is very comfortable on the lips. Due to the balm like texture it is prone to breakage so better refrigerate them in the summers!
MUA describes the power pouts as mere tints but I find them well pigmented. You can easily apply it lightly for a subtle wash of color or build it up with 2-3 swipes for a more pigmented shade. However, I don’t think it will cover major pigmentation of lips. The balm-like effect and glossiness stays on for about 2-3 hours depending on how much I drink and eat :p After that it settles into a lip stain which lasts the whole day until you remove it. The biggest reason why I prefer these Power Pouts over Revlon’s Just Bitten Balm Stains is because these are a lot more moisturizing and glossy and not to forget these retails at half the price of the Revlon ones!
MUA Power Pouts aren’t available in India(though I’m sure Jabong will stock these soon) and have to be bought directly though MUA’s website with nominal shipping charges. I’ve ordered 5-6 times from them and never faced any issues so the site is quite reliable and the customer care is always prompt!

Recommendation: MUA power pouts are the latest chubby sticks on the block. These are extremely hydrating, well pigmented with a decent staying power. They come in a good variety of shades ranging from nudes to pinks to reds. They retail at a super affordable price tag which is just the icing on the cake. I highly recommend it.
