ELF HD Lifting Concealer Review

Hi,
I am writing after a seriously long time, since I had too much to do before this. Now, I am in the US for two months for an internship, and I am making the most of it! I have been hoarding makeup products like crazy, so expect a few more reviews from my side. I also did loads of shopping yesterday, and I’m really excited! Starting with the review, today, I will be reviewing the ELF Studio HD Lifting Concealer in the shade “Medium,” which was recently launched in three shades (Fair, Light, and Medium) and three more color correcting options of Yellow (diffuses darkness), Lilac (whitens and brightens), and Green (diffuses redness).

Price:
$3 for 0.256o z (7.5 gm).
Packaging:
The concealer comes in a slim bottle, which reminds me more of a gloss, and it comes equipped with a wand applicator too. Overall, I like the matte black cap, which is way more than I would expect at this price. My only pet peeve is that the cap doesn’t align completely with the body when I screw it shut. Maybe it’s the piece I got, but I’m not really complaining.  You can see the cap doesn’t align properly with the body.

My Take on ELF HD Lifting Concealer:

Okay, starting off, this is my first concealer, I only ever use BB creams, or tinted moisturizers, since I don’t really need that much coverage, and I don’t have any pores. But I have really dark under-eye circles, and they are driving me crazy. So, I thought of trying out a concealer which would serve my purpose. I was just browsing the ELF website when I saw this, and thought of trying it out since it’s just 3 bucks.
First off, I was really happy when I got it because the shade “Medium” matches my skin tone exactly, but I have read that the colors are generally darker than what you would expect, so if you are very fair, then it may not be for you.  (The ‘brightening’ shade is very pale though, and it’s just as good). Applying it is pretty easy with the wand applicator, you just need to blend it out properly. Coming to the texture and coverage, I really like its texture; it blends out very easily, it doesn’t cake, and doesn’t crease till hours (although I am not sure how it would fare in the Indian climate).  I have got oily-combination skin, but it stays pretty well, and doesn’t make me super-shiny or anything. As for the coverage, it provides very good coverage on my face, where there is some pigmentation, but unfortunately, it couldn’t eliminate my dark circles, but it did lighten and brighten my under-eye area, but it would easily cover lighter dark circles. I would personally need a full-coverage concealer like the one by MUFE probably. Any other recommendations?

I can’t comment about the skin-firming, and improving skin texture part, as I haven’t used it that long, plus I use under-eye cream, so I can’t say anything for certain. All in all, it’s a pretty good concealer, and excellent value for the price.

Pros of ELF HD Lifting Concealer:

  • Provides medium coverage, covers imperfections on face.
  • Texture is smooth, and easy to blend, does not cake.
  • Good shade selection, and correcting options.
  • Doesn’t crease under the eyes.
  • Not tested on animals.
  • Really inexpensive for the quality of the product.
  • Doesn’t contain parabens.

Cons of ELF HD Lifting Concealer:

  • Doesn’t provide full coverage.
  • Honestly, I can’t think of any more!
Verdict:
It is a great concealer and if you are looking for inexpensive options, and good quality, then go for this. People are comparing this product to MAC concealers! I would recommend this and probably repurchase if I don’t get any better options.
BB Rating:
4.5/5
P.S. Forgive me for the yellowish lighting since I don’t have anything else at my apartment here.
