Hey everyone!
Today I’m reviewing a great everyday wear shade from Lakme’s Nine to Five range – Apricot Nectar.
Price : Rs 550 for 4.2 g
My take on the Product
Lakme Nine-to-five Day Perfect lip colors come in a sleek pink metallic packaging which is fairly sturdy and looks great. It think out of all the Lakme lipsticks, this would be my favorite packaging in terms of appearance. The bullet has a flat slanted tip instead of the regular pointed ones. I find the pointed bullets a little easier to work when it comes to the corners of the lips.
The lipstick has a nice creamy texture. It is soft and smooth without being crumbly. It gives rich color in 1-2 swipes and opaque coverage to cover up pigmented lips. The color pay off is great and the texture isn’t dry or stiff like many other long stay lipsticks. The great thing about this lipstick is that it applies creamy but settles into a soft satiny matte finish after some time. After that it stays on for a long time and doesn’t vanish off the lips despite being a fairly soft shade. If you eat/drink something within a few minutes of applying it, it may wear off sooner but its once its settled, it stays on for a good 5+ hours on me with light meals in between. It doesn’t dry out the lips or cling to the lip lines. You may need some moisture after 3-4 hours if you have dry lips. But it doesn’t get patchy on unflattering on the lips. Overall, I think its a great long wear formula – creamy, smooth and quite forgiving on the lips.
The lipstick has a faint chocolate-like smell, reminds me to Drinking Chocolate powder. Its not very strong so it should not be an issue unless one is very sensitive to smells.
The shade Apricot Nectar is a lovely dusty peachy-coral shade. On my lips, it looks like a nude coral and adds soft color to the face without washing me out. It may not be the most flattering for very dusky skin but for fair/medium/wheatish skin, it would be a nice shade for work wear or to pair with a colorful/smokey eye. I particularly like this shade with Blue eye shadows.
Lakme always makes great warm nude/peachy browns for Indian skin tones. Both Aphrodite Blush (Lip Love range) and Peach Carnation (Absolute Matte range) are a little more brown and less coral compared to Apricot Nectar.
How it looks on me :
The GOOD about Lakme Nine-to-Five Day Perfect Lipstick Apricot Nectar :
- Attractive packaging
- Smooth, creamy texture
- Excellent color pay off
- Gives good coverage
- Settles into a satiny matte finish
- Wears well
- Does not dry out the lips
- Great shade for everyday wear
- Does not tug at the lips; doesn’t settle into lines
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Lakme Nine-to-Five Day Perfect Lipstick Apricot Nectar :
- Faint chocolate scent
Overall Verdict
For a long stay lipstick, Lakme Nine-to-Five Day Perfect lip color has a very forgiving formula. The creamy, pigmented lip color settles to a soft matte finish some time post application and stays on quite well after that. It doesn’t dry out the lips or flake off, it doesn’t cling to lip lines and doesn’t leave the lips looking parched. It may not be very reasonably priced but I really like the formula! If I have to be really picky – I’d say the faint chocolate scent isn’t my cup of tea but apart from that, its a great lipstick. Apricot Nectar is a dusty peachy-coral shade that is great for an understated, polished looking warm lip.
